J. Andrew Ellis is an author who draws upon a diverse background in GIS, anthropology, archaeology, and wildlife biology to inform his writing. His fascination with science fiction began in his Southern California childhood, where amidst fishing trips and video games, he devoured science fiction novels. This early interest laid the foundation for his academic pursuits, culminating in a Bachelor of Science in Archaeology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
Ellis then spent 20 years working in the challenging environment of the Mojave Desert, an experience that profoundly shaped his worldview. Living and working in rural towns, often isolated from modern communication technology, he gained firsthand insights into the unique cultural development and struggles of these communities. This experience provided fertile ground for his debut novel, Mars Lost, which explores the potential trajectory of human civilization and current events through the lens of isolated cultures on Mars.
When he’s not writing or working, Ellis enjoys a rich personal life filled with family, animals, sailing, and astrophotography. This unique blend of scientific expertise, fieldwork, and personal passions makes J. Andrew Ellis a dynamic and multifaceted author with a compelling story to tell.
